Rock ‘n’ Roll Doctor

Legendary guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with cancer. The Black Sabbath member was recently diagnosed with the early stages of Lymphoma. The 63 year old rocker is working with doctors to decide the best treatment. Ozzy and the other members of Sabbath will continue working on their new album. It will be their first album in 33 years. Here’s to a speedy recovery!

Nothing is hotter than Van Halen right now! They are back together with Roth, they have a new album coming out February 7th called “A Different Kind of Truth”, and the guys have announced the dates for their 2012 world tour. Because...Vinyl rocks!

The Beatles classic 69’ album “ Abbey Road” is the top selling vinyl album for the third year! Over 41 thousand vinyl copies were sold in 2011 in the U.S. Not bad considering the group disbanded the following year in 1970.

Uncle Ted’s Ammo

Next time you go hunting for the “Great White Buffalo” make sure you have your Ted Nugent shells on hand. This summer, The Nuge will launch his own line called, “Ted Nugent Hi-Performance Hunting Ammunition. The avid hunter and music legend signed a deal with Peirce Munitions to distribute the shells for hunting rifles, hand guns and other popular calibers of hunting ammunition. The product is expected to be available in July at outdoor retailers and hunting supply stores.

New Year’s Resolution...JUMP!

Over 1 Billion people caught a glimpse of Van Halen’s new album cover on TV during the NYE celebrations in Times Square in New York City. The long awaited album drops February 7th. Tickets for their world tour shows go on sale January 10th. No word on dates or cities yet.

Steven Tyler is getting married....again! The Aerosmith front man is engaged to Erin Brady. This will be the 3rd trip down the aisle for the 63 year old rocker.

In the Flesh? Let’s hope so!

There’s some buzz about a Pink Floyd reunion! A Floyd insider told London’s Evening Standard about a possible reunion for the 2012 London Olympics. The special performance is said to take place during the closing ceremonies. David Gilmour and Nick Mason briefly joined Roger Waters during his “Wall” tour at London’s O2 Arena. Bummer Alert!!!!  David Gilmour is denying these reports! Oh well..guess time will tell.

2012..Year of the Peach Dragon?

Well...according to the Chinese calendar, 2012 is the year of the Dragon. On the other hand, according to The Allman Brothers Band, 2012 is “The Year of the Peach”. This year marks the 40th anniversary of their classic album, “Eat a Peach”. The guys will receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award next month at the 54th Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Knockin’ on Cleveland’s Door

They received a nomination but now it’s official. Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.  The ceremony takes place in Cleveland April 14, 2012. Joining Axl and the boys in the hall will be The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, The Small Faces and others. Will the original lineup of GnR show up and perform?? Here’s hoping!

“Jimi Hendrix Park” is set to open next year in his hometown of Seattle Washington. The guitar shaped park will sprawl over 2 acres and will feature lyrical stepping stones, a sculpted butterfly garden, performance area and more. The park will commemorate what would have been Jimi’s 70th birthday.

Red Sector Grape

Geddy Lee is getting a scholarship named after him. The Rush bassist has been a long-time board member of the charitable organization Grapes for Humanity. The Geddy Lee Fund will go to a student of winemaking at Niagara College. Lee has quite the collection of vino in his cellar...over 5 thousand bottles!

Legendary bluesman B.B King is set for a show in Penticton this spring. The 86 year old guitarist will play the South Okanagan Events Center May 12th, 2012. Tickets go on sale Saturday December 3rd at 10am through Ticketmaster.

Mas Rum?

Sammy Hagar has a new boozy venture. The Chickenfoot front man founded Cabo Wabo Tequila but is now producing “Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum” in Hawaii. The beverage is made from local sugar cane and is only available in Hawaii for now. Hagar will expand distribution to the U.S next year and he says plans are in the works for a pineapple infused rum and an aged dark rum. Yum!

Kissy Kat

Gene Simmons has done it again. The Kiss bassist is working on a new venture with the makers of Hello Kitty. The two titans of pop culture will produce Kiss themed items such as coffee mugs, lollipops, lip gloss and other trinkets to be sold in 90 countries! The items will hit retail outlets the latter half of 2012. I love it! Cute stuff!
